Voyage of Discovery was originally painted by Dr. Dominic Man-Kit LAM for a solo exhibition at Louis Vuitton Maison in 2004 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of man’s first landing on the moon. A series of 3 NFTs were created under the “Enchanted Time and Space” collection that are inspired by this exclusive masterpiece.
Lam represents the beginning of the universe through the tricolored explosive ball of energy. This phenomenon is preceded by a transition of atoms to form huge, vibrant clouds of gas, which later turn into a scintillating collection of stars.
The NFTs utilize bright colours and multi-layered compositions to depict the passage of time and space. This one depicts the aftermath of the amalgamation of dust and gas, taking the form of the deep-colored planets. Although the planets are fluctuating, the scintillating collection of stars are clearly seen beneath in its full glory.
The original piece was created using the chromoskedasic painting technique. Dominic discovered the method when developing black-and-white photographs of a retina in 1980, eventually establishing a procedure for creating the primary colours - red, blue and yellow.
