In May 2022, BOAX hosted its Virtual Niche: BOAX NFT Exhibition at the Event Space of Central Market, Hong Kong. This NFT Exhibition featured BOAX’s signature NFT series: First of Its Kind in the World - BOAX Feng Shui Art NFTs; RMBits - the world’s first Chinese 3D voxel art featuring famous characters in Chinese literature; Dominic X Ian – LamIan Metaverse; “Time Travel X Banknote”; Yazhou Zhoukan (亞洲週刊) “Great Powers” NFT series; NFTs x Authentic Paintings; Face off X AI; and Cang Hai Yi Sheng Shao (滄海一聲笑) by Ms. Dai Wenhua (代文華), a Chinese artist who was invited to display her artwork in Venice Biennale 2022, and more.
The RMBits collection includes characters from Journey to the West (西遊記), Romance of the Three Kingdoms (三國演義), Dream of the Red Chamber (紅樓夢) and Chinese Mythology. The RMBits collection was not mass-produced using algorithm, rather every character was created individually by the best efforts from a highly talented creative team, ushering in a new perspective in blockchain aesthetics with Chinese cultural undertones. “Time Travel X Banknote NFT” series brings to life the authentic and very rare Chinese antique banknotes emblazoned with mottos, emblems, and historical imagery which provide a window into the rich historical Chinese cultural heritage.
Dr. Dominic Lam, a well-established scientist, doctor, academic, educator, philanthropist, and artist, attended the event and talked about how he did NFT artworks with Mr. Ian Wen, the founder of BOAX. Dr. Lam invented Chromoskedasic Art - a new art discipline through chemical processes; and together with Mr. Ian Wen, they have created NFT artworks including “Olympic Happiness”, “Original IZBLU Bulls X Nine Palace”, “Voyage of Discovery: Universe - The Big Bang”, and many more. The audience was shown a preview of the BOAX LamIan Metaverse featuring all of the aforementioned collaboration between Dr. Lam and Mr. Wen in NFT form, which will officially launch very soon.
Mr. Ian Wen, the founder of BOAX and the Chairman of BOA Financial Group, shared with the audience in the Virtual Niche: BOAX NFT Exhibition the reason he chose to build an Asian culture-inspired metaverse: “I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the UK. Cultural heritage plays an important role in providing a deep sense of connection to the past and lived experiences of cultures. NFTs empower a hybrid landscape where the public can connect to cultural heritage through tokenisation. I believe cultural institutions can leverage blockchain and NFTs to reconnect to a new generation of audience who are less concerned about the distinction between virtual and real and I hope to promote Chinese culture to the world leveraging on this NFT mega trend.

Most recently, BOAX partners with Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) and helped them build a metaverse, supporting its Juxtaposed 2022 Fashion Meta Event sponsored by Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR.
BOAX also partnered with Hong Kong-based metaverse gaming studio Index Game to develop “the world’s first I-Ching (or the Book of Changes) Metaverse,” and built a Chinese New Year Feng Shui NFT project in partnership with the Feng Shui Grandmaster Raymond Lo.
The success of these BOAX projects highlights that young local collectors pursue NFTs that reflect their national identity and express their own values where Chinese values, aesthetics, folklore, and beliefs are embedded in the NFT designs. Western brands wishing to expand their sales and engage Gen Z consumers should not underestimate the power of this cyber-nationalism. Crypto art is all about community support.
